We Are Back!

Raising A Joyful Song

St Margaret’s Choir is a great way to become involved in our church life and is open to anyone of any age who likes to sing. We don’t have auditions because we believe that the love of singing is the best way to be a singer. We do sing in part harmony and in unison, so sometimes we are divided into groups based on where our best singing voice is placed. If you don’t like the high notes, then you are probably an alto or a bass; likewise, if you don’t like low notes, then soprano and tenor are for you. This is fun, happy and open group for everyone!

The Choir sings a variety of styles of music from traditional to modern hymns as well as anthems and songs by the likes of John Rutter, Graham Kendrick, Matt Redman, George Handle and that well known composer, Trad. As our worship is diverse, so is our music choices.

We rehearse at 7pm on Friday evenings for an hour. There is a touch of fellowship before and after, but we will be out by 8:15. The rehearsals may run longer for special events at Christmas and Easter, but these times are worked out and agreed upon closer to service.

The Choir also participates in special events at the church such as the Songs Of Praise Afternoons on certain Sundays. We sing preselected and suggested hymns with other choirs from the Luton area. Of course these afternoons do include fellowship, tea and biscuits. We also do caroling at the local care homes and Sainsbury’s in December.
